3-Point Basketball Competition
Thursday, February 5, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Get ready to shoot your shot at our 3-Point Basketball Competition! Show off your
skills, take on the challenge, and aim for glory. Registration not required. Open
to anyone eighteen years or older with a valid I.D. Nonmembers can purchase a single-entry
pass on the day of the event.
Description
The 3-point basketball competition is a timed shooting contest, lasting 60 seconds,
where players shoot five balls from five stations around an arc. Participants aim
for the highest score by making the shots. The top three scores from the first round
advance to the finals.
Registration
- Pre-registration is highly encouraged - REGISTER HERE
- Walk-ins are welcome
- Check-in at the registration table located on the court upon arrival
- Participants (shooters) will be placed in order at check-in
How to Play
How to Play
- Each shooter will have 60 seconds to shoot 5 balls from 3 shooting stations located
on the 3-point line arc
- The 3 designated shooting stations along the 3-point line will be marked on the floor
- Five balls will be placed near each shooting station next to the floor marking
- Shooters must begin on the left side of the arc (facing the basket)
- Players can return to the first station and repeat if time permits
- Shooters will stand behind the mark when shooting
- Shooters must have both feet behind the 3-point line when he/she releases the ball
- Stepping over the 3-point line results in a missed shot
- The clock starts when the player releases their first shot
- Players must move quickly to maximize their score
- Each successful shot using a standard size basketball will score one point
- A shooter’s total score is determined by adding the total points he/she receives for
all made baskets from behind the 3-point line
Tie-Breaker
- All tied players do a second 60 second round
Prizes
- A Rec Center hoodie will be awarded to the first place winner.
General Rules

Player’s clothing must be presentable and appropriate for competition at the discretion
of the Staff

Closed-toe athletic shoes are required to participate in the 3-point competition

No jewelry or any other item deemed dangerous by the staff may be worn

Hats, caps, and sunglasses are not permitted for play

Eyeglasses may be worn at the risk of the participant
