Pickleball League

Our seasonal pickleball leagues provide structured weekly match play for adult participants. Designed for both casual and competitive players, leagues offer a great opportunity to stay active, improve skills, and connect with others in the pickleball community. Leagues are open to adults ages 18 and older. You do not need to be a Harper College student or employee to join.

  • Wednesdays 6 to 8:30 p.m.
  • 5 Weeks: November 12 to December 17 (no league on11/26)
  • Members: $50
  • Non-members: $75
  • Intermediate skill level
  • Maximum participants: 24
  • Registration is required (registration closes Friday, November 7)

Intermediate Skill Level

  • Week 1 - Random Draw Round Robin
    • All players will be randomly paired and rotated in a round robin format. This opening week is designed to give everyone a fair chance to play and se the initial standings. 
  • Weeks 2 through 5 - Ladder League Play
    • Beginning in Week 2, court assignments will be determined by your win/loss record from the previous week. Players will "move up" or "move down" courts based on performance, keeping competition balanced and exciting. 
  • Scoring and Tiebreakers
    • Standings are based on matches won. In the case of ties, total points scored and point differential will be used to break ties.

Scoring & Tiebreakers

Three ways to register:

  1. The Health and Recreation Center Apple App Store (Apple only)
  2. Log into harper.clubautomation.com
  3. Register at the Rec Center Welcome Desk

App and Website - New Users

    • Create an account
    • Enter your first name, last name, and email address
    • Check your email for a verification code and enter it
    • Create a username and password
    • Complete all required information, sign the waiver
    • Click Finish

Returning players - log into your account using your usernam and password.

Once logged into your account - finish the registration process:

 1. App Users:

    • Tap Programs
    • Select a Category → scroll to Leagues → tap Show Programs
    • Select Pickleball League → tap Sign Up
    • Enter payment info → tap Confirm & Pay

 2. Web Browser Users:

    • Click Register for Classes
    • Find Pickleball League under Program Name or View
    • Select Sign Up → enter payment info → click Confirm & Pay

Doug Spiwak

Doug Spiwak

Doug retired from Harper College in 2022 after 33 years as Director of Athletics and Fitness, leading the Hawks to multiple National Championships and serving in key NJCAA leadership roles. A 2025 NACDA Hall of Fame inductee, he has since combined his passion for pickleball with his sports expertise as a Pickleball Pro at Life Time, Inc. Doug now returns to Harper to coordinate pickleball leagues and help grow the program for students and the community.

Open Recreation (Drop-In)

Casual, first-come, first-served play. Nets are set during designated open times. Rotate games to keep play moving and match by skill when possible.
Who it’s for: All skill levels, students, members, and day-pass guests.
Bring: Harper ID/Rec Center Membership Card, paddle (limited loaners available), non-marking shoes.

Scheduled Recreation (Organized Rotations)

Scheduled sessions with structured rotations to maximize play time. Great for meeting partners, balanced matches, and consistent game flow.
Who it’s for: Players who want predictable games and organized court assignments.
