SIU’s faculty teach you right here at Harper’s campus
SIU’s accounting program provides undergraduate accounting program graduates with
the basic understanding of accounting concepts (financial, taxation, auditing, managerial
and accounting information systems) so you can prepare, analyze and communicate accounting
information.
A flexible curriculum assures that you are prepared for the many available career
options including public accounting, corporate accounting, not-for-profit accounting
and other roles in business consulting and finance.
While the SIU undergraduate accounting degree prepares you for an accounting career,
you must typically have completed 150 hours of coursework to sit for the CPA exam
in Illinois and most other states.
Currently, the accounting pathway is a fall start only.

Admission requirements
Completion of at least 24 semester hours at accredited institutions, with a minimum
cumulative GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale)

Application Process
Submit an application at siu.edu/apply, selecting "Harper University Center" when prompted on the Partnerships and Agreements
page of the application.
Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities where you have previously
enrolled. Students with prior college credit will receive a transfer credit evaluation
upon admission.
You do not need to have attended Harper College for admission to this program.
After your application is complete and you have been admitted, you will be contacted
by an SIU academic advisor to schedule an initial advising appointment.
Take your first step toward earning a bachelor’s degree at the University Center by
requesting information. A University Center representative will reach out to review
your academic goals and create a customized University Center plan.
