The Health and Recreation Center (Building M)

Membership to the Health and Recreation Center is available to Harper students, employees, and the surrounding community. The Health and Recreation Center is a new state-of-the-art 135,000 square foot facility and is managed by the Department of Campus Recreation.

Facility Notices

  • Friday, October 11: An emergency steam shut down to building M is in progress. At this time, we will experience cooler temperatures and no hot water. We do not have an estimated time for repair. Please check back for updates.
  • Monday, September 9 and ongoing: The pedestrian sidewalk on the North side of the Health and Recreation Center will be fenced off beginning the week of September 9 in order to relocate the ComEd line in preparation of the construction of the Canning Center. Harper Students, Faculty and Staff can walk through or around Building A to get to the Health and Recreation Center (Building M). This does not effect Rec Center members who park in Parking Lot 1. If you use the bike racks, those will be relocated elsewhere, but near Building M.
  • Wednesday, June 26 and ongoing: The suspended track will be closed due to utility piping upgrades. The utility pipes are being moved and the entry point of the pipes to our building is above the suspended track, therefore it is necessary to close the track during the upgrade. During this time, the fieldhouse (mostly Court D) will be occasionally impacted. Please continue to check back for updates.
    • Alternatives to walking the suspended track include:
      • Utilize the lower-level track before 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Availability is subject to change without notice due to open recreation.
      • Use the treadmills and other cardio equipment located on the fitness floor
