As older adults getting married, we didn't need to have a traditional gift registry. Instead, we endowed the scholarship and asked guests to donate. Now the scholarship could continue in perpetuity. We felt it was the best way to assist students while celebrating a special time. Read More

Lavleen Mal, a 20-year-old student from India, was elected by his peers to serve a one-year term as Student Trustee. Mal, who has an advisory vote, was sworn into his new position at the May board meeting. Read More

Ruth's future looked dim. She was 16 years old, pregnant and still in high school. People were counseling her to give up her baby - saying if she didn’t, she wouldn’t amount to anything. She proved them wrong. Thanks to the support she received at Harper, she is graduating with honors and transferring to a four-year school. Her goal is a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Read More

Harper College students Anthony Tamras and Drake Roberts are poised to take their young company, DeoTech LLC, to the next level. They’ve spent the past two years developing, tweaking and hopefully perfecting the DeoBlock, a portable deodorizer that combats bad smells with a plant-based gel infused with essential oils. Harper College’s upcoming Commencement Ceremony marks the close to Harper’s 50th anniversary year and the unveiling of a time capsule to be displayed in the David K. Hill Family Library for the next half century. The ceremony will also feature commencement speaker David Coleman, president and CEO of the College Board, an organization that administers the SAT, Advanced Placement program and other standardized tests.
