Harper College will be closed Wednesday, November 27 through Sunday, December 1 for Thanksgiving Break.
Harper College has a unique collection of historical material relating to the college's own football program and community college football within the Midwest. This collection underscores that football was long an integral part of Harper College's history and that of the surrounding region. The central project objective is to improve access to the Harper College Athletic Department historical football videos through digitization. Access copies of the digitized files will be made available to the public through our archives digital preservation software, Preservica.
The Harper College Archives has a significant assortment of videotapes of the football program from 1981 to 2006 in the Harper College Athletic Department Collection. The audiovisual portion of the collection has 371 videotapes and 10 microcassettes. The fragile nature of these videotapes makes their conversion to a digital format a priority.
Please note that because of the larger number of videos and their individual file sizes, not all videos will immediatley be made available. Please see the below link for those videos that have been uploaded to our public access website. More research guidance and search tips will be added to this project page to assist you with finding your desired videos. If you are interested in receiving more information about this project or have any questions, please email Brandi Fialek, Archivisit at archives@harpercollege.edu.
The target audience for this project is anyone interested generally in the history of community college football and specifically the history of football at Harper College.
