Course description

This 60-hour training includes hands-on practice and classroom instruction on topics such as chairside assisting, infection control and radiology. The course prepares you for entry-level dental assistant positions, and provides a strong foundation for further study. Students must be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrollment.

Topics include:

  • Introduction to the dental office
  • The progression and legal aspect of dental assisting
  • Infection control in the dental setting
  • Dental equipment, operations and maintenance
  • Oral and dental anatomy and physiology
  • Dental charting
  • Dental impressions, digital impressions
  • Dental radiology
  • Oral hygiene
  • Professional overview and the job search

Funding opportunities

CPE works with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the Paths to College and Career grant to offer scholarships for people who are underemployed, unemployed, incarcerated, and previously incarcerated.
