Harper College will be closed Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
Harper College is excited to celebrate freedom at Juneteenth in the Burbs, co-hosted
by iCU Community and the Township of Schaumburg. The free, annual event will take
place from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Drs. Kenneth and Catherine Ender
Pavilion on Harper’s campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine.
Local media personalities Bioncé Foxx and Jasmine Minor will emcee this outdoor celebration
of culture and community. Juneteenth in the Burbs will feature food, music and games,
along with the new freedom exhibit and blood pressure screenings. Entertainment will
include special guest DJ Leon Rogers, youth performers from Schaumburg School District
54 and the Harper Jazz Ensemble, directed by Kirby Fellis.
Refreshments will be available, along with onsite bathrooms and free drinking water. Bring blankets and chairs. Coolers, tents and umbrellas are not permitted. The event space is wheelchair and walker accessible. American Sign Language interpreters will be onsite.
For easiest access, enter at the Euclid Avenue entrance and park in lots 8, 9, 10 and 14 (shuttle service will be available from all lots).
Official Juneteenth in the Burbs T-shirts and tote bags, with proceeds benefitting future iCU Community events, are available now. For more event information, visit iCU Community’s event page.
