Free ESL Tutoring

You will receive individual assistance online or in person.

It's important that you succeed. That is why Harper offers currently enrolled ESL students free 30-minute online or in person ESL tutoring sessions with highly-qualified ESL instructors.

Free Online or In Person ESL Tutoring is Available by Appointment

You must be a currently enrolled ESL student.
Please be prepared to ask a specific question related to the information you are learning in class.
Tutors are not available for general conversation practice.
You may only make one appointment at a time.
PLEASE NOTE: ESL In-Person Tutoring will be offered on MONDAYS, TUESDAYS, and WEDNESDAYS this semester.

How to Make an Appointment for Online or In-Person ESL Tutoring

1. To schedule a tutoring appointment, log into Blackboard (new tab); under "Courses," go to "ESL Language Lab"; click on "Tutoring Information"; and then click on the link to "Request an ESL Tutoring Appointment" and fill out the request form.

2. Look for a confirmation email from a tutor (be sure to check your spam folder!).

3. FOR ONLINE TUTORING: Use a smart phone, iPad, laptop or computer with internet access. Check your Harper student email before your appointment to get the Zoom meeting link for the tutoring session. You may be asked to download Zoom (new tab) if you never did before. It is free in app stores for phones/iPads, and here for Windows-based computers. Email any paragraph or essay that you want help with to esl_lab@harpercollege.edu at least 3 hours before your session.

4. FOR IN-PERSON TUTORING: Come to Room D144 at your appointment time. Please bring a printed copy of any paragraph or essay that you want help with to your appointment.
