How to Make an ESL Advisor Appointment

Please read before proceeding to schedule an appointment with the ESL advisor.

Only schedule an appointment if you fall under any of the following:

  • Current ESL students in level 4 and/or 5 in both Reading and Writing who need help with choosing ESL courses. Levels 2 and 3 can go to the language lab or Academic ESL office to get help.
  • Current ESL students who need college course permission/approval. You must be level 4 and/or 5 in both Reading and Writing in order to start taking non-ESL courses.
  • Current ESL students who need guidance on choosing coursework for their degree/transfer program.
  • Current ESL students interested in a degree or certificate program at Harper.
  • Current ESL students with transfer questions.
  • Current ESL students needing to change their program of study.
  • Current ESL students who need to do a SAP appeal.
  • Current ESL students who are sent concern messages through starfish.
  • Current ESL students who need help with transcript evaluation steps.
  • Students who are referred to ESL via college ENG placement test results.

Step 1

Log into your MyHarper Student Portal.

Step 2

On the “For ESL Students” bookmark, click on the “Schedule your ESL Advising Appointment” link.

Step 3

Click on the “Make Appointment” button.

Step 4

Click on the “Find Appointments” button to see all appointments available.

To limit the results, first choose the day and time you prefer, and then click “Find Appointments.”

Step 5

Click on the button with the asterisk next to the appointment time you want.

Step 6

Choose a reason for meeting with the ESL Advisor. Please check to make sure your phone number and email address are correct; then click on the “Continue” button.

After you click on the “Continue” button, you will be e-mailed a confirmation of your appointment. 

 

How to Cancel an ESL Advisor Appointment

Step 1

Click on the “Schedule your ESL advising appointment” link.

Step 2

Click on the “View or Cancel Appointments” button.

Step 3

Click on the button with the asterisk next to the appointment time you want to CANCEL.

Step 4

Click on the “OK” button.

Step 5

Click on the “Continue” button. Your ESL advisor appointment is now canceled.
