Text description of the Avanté Center tour

This tour contains five panoramic images related to the Avanté Center at Harper College. The text below describes these images and the content of the tour as best as possible.

You're outside facing north toward the steps leading up to the glassy entrance of Building Z. There are three tiers of steps, each with three steps, at intervals leading up to the doorway.

On your left (west) is a rounded room structure with rust-orange rectangular panels that comes out from the main structure. This rounded structure is Z-102. Off in the distance to your left is the long glass-paneled wall of Avanté Concourse and a tree-lined sidewalk leading toward the Performing Arts Center.

On your right (east) is a park bench and some tables along the stairs and walkway. In the background, the rust-orange Building Y comes out from the main structure.

Behind you (south) is another set of stairs that leads down to the sidewalk. Beyond it is a drive and Parking Lot 3, where several cars are parked.

You are looking west down the long Avanté Concourse's wood-laminate hallway, where there is a standing sign for the Subway restaurant. Behind that is a stair case leading up to Building Z's second floor.

Along the left are bench seats along the slightly curved bank of windows that look out toward the parking lots. There is an banquet table further down used for tabling events, right outside the Subway.

Along the right are displays behind glass featuring alumni. There is a large Avanté sign above the Subway restaurant, whose entrance is on the right. Further down on the right is where Building Z connects to Building L.

Behind you, the hallway continues a short way toward the main entrance, the entrance to Z-102, and Buildings X and Y.

You are standing in the middle of the Building X hallway facing east toward a small bank of windows at the east entrance of the building.

To your left is the the front desk window for the Dental Hygiene Clinic, with a small seating area with armchairs just beyond it.

To your right (facing south) is a bank of two elevators. Next to the elevators to the east is the entrance to Building Y, home to the Graphic Arts program, the Math and Science Division, and the Mega Lab (Y-203). Next to the entrance to the west is a rust-orange wall and display case. There is a small seating area with tables and chairs along the wall.

Behind you (to the east) is a ramp up to the Avanté Center main entrance. There is a seating area to the south side of the ramp.

You are outside, facing north toward the glassy Building X entrance. On the east side of the entrance, there is a short staircase leading up to a landing that goes to the entrance. On your left is the rust-orange Building Y coming out from the main structure, with a tree-lined sidewalk next to it. There are five handicapped parking spaces along the side of the building.

To the right is Building J with a note typed in over it that reads: "Construction Area: Building J will be demolished in 2025 and rebuilt as the Business and Social Sciences Building (Building I), expected to open in 2028." There is no construction fencing setup yet and Building J is still can be accessed.

Behind you is a roundabout drive, and beyond that is Parking Lot 4.

You are facing east, toward the west end of Building Z where it connects to Building L. There is an angled grassy area with a few small trees and an outdoor table/benches under an umbrella.

To your left (northeast) is a diagonal sidewalk that leads to Building L, which has a reflective glass and dark brick front.

To your right are parking lots 2A and 2. It's not shown in the tour, but there is currently construction fencing for the new Canning Center blocking parts of the parking lots.

Behind you is the Performing Arts Center (Building R), and beyond that, not shown in the tour is more construction fencing for the new Canning Center.
