Hundreds to attend upcoming Transfer Fair
February 11, 2015
According to past surveys, about 60 percent of new students at Harper College intend to transfer. Helping students to get there is the College's upcoming Transfer Fair, which will boast representatives from nearly 70 four-year colleges and universities from across the nation.
The annual event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Building A on the College's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.
About 600 students who plan to continue their education are expected to attend the Transfer Fair. Newcomers this year include Illinois Wesleyan University, while some familiar faces will make longer trips such as California's Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
"We hope to provide Harper students with a number of options, including some they might not otherwise have considered," Transfer Information Specialist Agnes Szemborski said. "Many colleges and universities – public and private, small and large – come hoping to recruit Harper's quality students. This is like one-stop shopping."
Northern Illinois University, DePaul, Illinois State and the University of Illinois at Chicago are among the most popular destinations, but many students, often encouraged by the Fair's options, also head to other institutions.
An Adult Learner Transfer Fair, which will bring together more than 20 universities specializing in adult and online degree programs, is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at the Harper Professional Center, 650 E. Higgins Road in Schaumburg.
