Welding Technology

Welding Technology is a vital trade in modern manufacturing and construction industries, requiring skill, precision, and knowledge of various welding techniques and materials. Welders work with metal to fabricate and assemble structures, using heat to fuse parts together while ensuring strong, safe, and durable bonds. This field demands attention to detail, manual dexterity, and an understanding of welding codes, blueprints, and safety standards.

The Welding Technology Apprenticeship is a comprehensive three-year program that combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction. During the Fall and Spring semesters, apprentices attend courses at Harper College. The remainder of the year, apprentices are employed by a sponsoring company, where they receive hands-on training and mentorship from experienced welding professionals.

Welders completing this program will earn an AAS degree in Welding Technology, industry-recognized certifications, a U.S. Department of Labor credential validating their status as fully qualified welders, and three years of real-world experience.
