Ongoing Activities:

  • Thrive Kits (Online, While Supplies Last)
    • Sign up to receive a free Thrive Kit! This kit is filled with fun and mindfulness-related activities, snacks, and useful information to help you get through the end of the semester. Sign-ups are limited to one kit per student and will be open through Sunday, November 16, while supplies last. Thrive Kits will be mailed to the address you provide on this submission. Please contact Ailyn Trujillo at ta22842@harpercollege.edu with any questions.
  • Chill Out in the Gaming Lounge, Monday through Friday, 12 to 8 p.m., from December 1 to 12, Rec Center (Building M, Room M1010)
    • De-stress from finals in the Gaming Lounge. Drop in and enjoy gaming on the 10 PC's with Fortnite, Rocket League, League of Legends, and more! Play on one of the four 70'' TV's with PS4, PS5, X-Box Series X, and Nintendo Switch Games. Play board games, card games, table tennis, foosball, and more!

Monday, December 1:

  • Let's Chat: Mental Health and Well-Being, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Library (Building F, Room F226)
    • Finals got your brain doing cartwheels? Drop by for a chill chat about stress, anxiety, and how to stay sane through the study storm. Got a go-to podcast, book, or resource that helps you reset? Share it! We've got good vibes, friendly faces, and zero pressure. 
  • Yogalates, 12:15 to 1:10 p.m., Rec Center (Building M, Room M1010)
    • Yoga and Yogalates drop-in classes help reduce stress through safe postural poses and core strengthening techniques. Students are encouraged to stay within their individual limitations by progressing gradually through the various levels of the poses. Props are often used to help support and adapt the poses for everybody. All levels are welcome.
  • Healthy Back Yoga, 6 to 6:55 p.m., Rec Center (Building M, Room M1010)
    • Yoga and Yogalates drop-in classes help reduce stress through safe postural poses and core strengthening techniques. Students are encouraged to stay within their individual limitations by progressing gradually through the various levels of the poses. Props are often used to help support and adapt the poses for everybody. All levels are welcome.
  • Free 10-Minute Chair Massage, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Rec Center (Building M Lobby)
    • Students from the Harper College Massage Therapy Program will provide free seated chair massages that involve massaging the back, neck, shoulders, arms, and hands. Clients often report feeling relaxed but also energized afterward. No appointments necessary - first come, first served. Clients should wear comfortable clothing and will remain clothed during their session.

Tuesday, December 2:

  • Guided Flow Yoga, 9 to 9:55 a.m., Rec Center (Building M, Room M1010)
    • Yoga and Yogalates drop-in classes help reduce stress through safe postural poses and core strengthening techniques. Students are encouraged to stay within their individual limitations by progressing gradually through the various levels of the poses. Props are often used to help support and adapt the poses for everybody. All levels are welcome.
  • Comfort Dogs, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Library (Building F, Room F206)
    • Take a break from your studies with comfort dogs!

    • Stop by the Avante Concourse for a quick study break to grab a snack and coffee! Refueling your body while studying can help improve concentration and ability to retain information. Pick up a grab and go snack for all of your studying needs and learn about mental health resources to help support you before and after finals.

Monday, December 8:

  • Refueling Station, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Building L Concourse (intersection near the Bookstore)
    • Stop by the Building L Concourse for a quick study break to grab a snack and coffee! Refueling your body while studying can help improve concentration and ability to retain information. Pick up a grab and go snack for all of your studying needs and learn about mental health resources to help support you before and after finals.
  • Sound Meditation, 11 to 11:45 a.m. or 12 to 12:45 p.m., Library (Building F, Room F226)
    • Join meditation facilitator Jay Taylor for an experience in sound and music. Lie down, get comfortable, and engage with powerful frequencies of the crystal singing bowls. As the sound evolves, practice the art of acceptance and become aware of sensations, thoughts, emotions, and memories that arise and give way to a deep state of relaxation. No skills, abilities, or beliefs are required to participate and/or benefit from the experience. You may bring a yoga mat, blanket, and/or pillow; chairs are also available.. Sign-ups are encouraged.

Tuesday, December 9:

  • Scream Into the Void, 12 to 1 p.m., Building D Rotunda
    • Feeling stressed about finals or perhaps you're just ready for the winter break? Come Scream into the Void! Join us for a lighthearted stress-relief session where you can sip on free coffee and hot chocolate, unwind with friends and colleagues, and then head outside for a group moment to breathe deeply and yell it all out. Let go of your finals week and end-of-semester tension in a fun, supportive (and slightly cathartic) way. Sometimes, you just need to scream into the void to feel better! Two different breathing/scream sessions will occur. One at 12:15 p.m. and then another one at 12:45 p.m.
