Writing Center

The Academic Support Center is closed for Spring Break from Monday, March 27 through Sunday, April 2. Normal tutoring hours will resume on Monday, April 3.

The Writing Center provides writing support for all Harper students in all Harper courses to help students gain skills and strategies to develop into stronger, more confident writers.

During sessions, students and tutors have a conversation about students' writing and their writing goals. Students and tutors work together to help students.

• Review and understand assignments
• Brainstorm ideas
• Create outlines and organize ideas
• Develop a thesis
• Draft
• Learn to find and properly cite sources
• Discuss writing in different disciplines
• Identify patterns of error in grammar, punctuation, and syntax and suggest options for correcting them
