Careers in Emergency Medical Services

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) associates degree programs prepare you for a career in a high-demand field. As an EMS professional, you'll work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, often on call and in life-or-death situations. You'll need to be able to think quickly and make split-second decisions. And, you'll need to be able to handle the physical demands of the job, which can include lifting patients, administering CPR, and operating medical equipment.

An EMS associate's degree program will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in this demanding field. You'll learn how to splint injuries, administer lifesaving medications, provide CPR, operate medical equipment, and much more. You'll also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through clinical rotations at local hospitals and EMS agencies.

Upon graduation, you'll be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination. Once you pass the examination, you'll be certified as an EMT or Paramedic and will be eligible for employment with EMS agencies across the country.

If you're looking for a challenging and rewarding career in a growing field, consider pursuing an EMS associate's degree.
