Update on RISE Act and State Financial Aid for Students with Undocumented Status

Harper College is reviewing a recent federal court ruling affecting state financial aid for students with undocumented status in Illinois.

The July 24 ruling, which impacts students who completed the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid, prohibits the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) from funding MAP grants and other state-funded grants and scholarships for the 2026–27 academic year.

We recognize the uncertainty this creates for affected students and families. Harper is reviewing the ruling and available guidance, as well as options to support impacted students. We will contact affected students directly with additional information and next steps as soon as details are available.
