Judith Blaylock is an adult student who had a successful career at AT&T. When three immediate family members became terminally ill with lung cancer, she needed to transition to a career with more flexibility to be primary care giver for her family. The career transition also involved a steep pay cut.

"After the passing of my family, I was looking to return to the same line of work I did at AT&T," Judith said. "However, I wasn’t getting any interviews with my current resume."

In order to get an interview and advance her career, she needed to take courses offered by Harper for the Six Sigma Green Belt Process Improvement track. It was exactly what employers were looking for in their product managers and it was her best chance of getting ahead.

So she applied for an Educational Foundation Donor Sponsored scholarship which is ultimately what turned her life around. Judith was awarded the Jim McGuire Memorial Scholarship and was able to take the classes she needed to get her career back on track.

"Once I put on my resume that I was working towards the Six Sigma, I got an interview at United Healthcare. I have now landed my dream job, and it wouldn’t have been a possibility without the support of the Jim McGuire Memorial Scholarship."
