Harper College Board of Trustee Applicant Process

Harper College is seeking applications for the current vacant position on the Board of Trustees. An individual will be appointed to fill the vacant position through the April 2027 Board Meeting, and will be replaced by the individual elected to the position (based upon the April 6, 2027 election results).

Candidates

  1. Must be at least the age of 18, at the time of application.
  2. Must be a United States citizen.
  3. Must be a District 512 resident for at least one year.
  4. Honest commitment to the community college mission

Submissions via U.S. Mail must be postmarked by Friday, February 6, 2026.

Submissions via email or in person must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Following a review of the submitted materials, the Board will schedule interviews with selected candidates at a Regular or Special Board of Trustees meeting. It is possible that all of candidates for the Board vacancy may not be interviewed.

Per Board of Trustees Policy Manual:

01.23.00 VACANCIES

Whenever a vacancy occurs, the remaining members shall fill the vacancy until the next regular election of Board members. The appointee shall have the same legal qualifications as the predecessor. Should the Board fail so to act within 60 days after the vacancy occurs, the Chair of the Illinois Community College Board shall appoint a trustee to fill such vacancy until the next regular election for Board trustees.
