Harper College offices will be closed Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day.
With the conclusion of Harper College's 50th Anniversary, the time capsule was last displayed at the 50th Commencement Graduation ceremony. Harper President Dr. Kenneth Ender placed the graduation program into the time capsule before the capsule made its way to the David K. Hill Family Library, where it will remain until Harper's 100th Anniversary.
Among the many items slated for the time capsule are a letter from former President Barack Obama congratulating our graduates; predictions about the future made by Dr. Ender, faculty, staff and students; and some of today's trendiest pop culture objects. After the graduation ceremony, the Library staff spent the summer cataloging and processing the items, and preparing the time capsule for display in the Library.
It will be quite an experience to view its unveiling in 2068 and marvel at the extraordinary changes that occur over the next 50 years. Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas and artifacts.
