Internship Opportunity with Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi

Most people think of members of Congress as primarily lawmakers. But equally important are the services congressional offices provide directly to constituents.

Each year, thousands of constituents turn to members of Congress with a wide range of requests, from the simple to the complex. Every member of Congress employs several staff members to handle these requests. Known as constituent services liaisons or caseworkers, these staff members assist constituents by acting as facilitators, ombudsmen and, in some cases, advocates. In short, constituent services personnel in a congressional office solve problems for people. The work is fast-paced and requires exceptional interpersonal skills as well as creative problem solving, research, writing, communication, organization and time management capabilities.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi’s constituent services internship provides students comprehensive exposure to the workings of a congressional office, constituent services and constituent casework while serving as an intern in the Congressman’s district office in Schaumburg for approximately 20 hours per week. This internship will help students gain the skills and experience necessary to work in existing public and private sector advocacy and customer service positions.
