Free Massage Therapy Introductory Course

Course description

MTP 100: Introduction to Massage Therapy provides a general program overview and historical development of massage therapy. Introduces students to the benefits of massage therapy and its relationship to our current health care system, alternative health care systems and healing practices from other cultures. Introduces the systems of the body, basic effects of stress on the body and different types of massage modalities. Introduces students to basic anatomical terms, regions of the body, and an anatomy palpation demonstration and practice. Prerequisite: You must be 18 years old to register for this course.

Flexible schedule options

Harper College offers several sections of MTP 100 for Summer 2017, with options to take the course over four mornings OR two weeknights/one Saturday. Choose ONE of the following sections:

  • MTP100-001 (91762): Monday–Thursday, July 24–27, 8:30 a.m.–Noon
  • MTP100-002 (91763): Tuesday & Thursday, August 1 & 3, 5–8:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 5, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • MTP100-003 (91764): Monday–Thursday, August 7–10, 8:30 a.m.–Noon
