Massage Therapy Introductory Course

Course description

MTP 100: Introduction to Massage Therapy provides a general program overview and historical development of massage therapy. Introduces students to the benefits of massage therapy and its relationship to our current health care system, alternative health care systems and healing practices from other cultures. Introduces the systems of the body, basic effects of stress on the body and different types of massage modalities. Introduces students to basic anatomical terms, regions of the body, and an anatomy palpation demonstration and practice. Prerequisite: You must be 18 years old to register for this course.

Introduction to Massage Therapy schedule

2019 Intro Course Options:

  • MTP100 (CRN 92101) July 22-25, 8:30 A.M.-12:00 p.m. each day
  • MTP100 (CRN TBD) Aug 19-22, 8:30 A.M.-12:00 p.m. each day

Students who successfully complete this course with either of the above offerings will be eligible to begin the Massage Therapy program in the August 2019 or January 2020 term. 

  • MTP100 (CRN TBD) Nov 11 & 13 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Nov 16 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Students who successfully complete this course with offering will be eligible to begin the Massage Therapy program in the January 2020 or August 2020 term.
