Massage Therapy Introductory Course

Course description

MTP 100: Introduction to Massage Therapy provides a general program overview and historical development of massage therapy. Introduces students to the benefits of massage therapy and its relationship to our current health care system, alternative health care systems and healing practices from other cultures. Introduces the systems of the body, basic effects of stress on the body and different types of massage modalities. Introduces students to basic anatomical terms, regions of the body, and an anatomy palpation demonstration and practice. Prerequisite: You must be 18 years old to register for this course.
In order to register for the Introductory course, there are several program admissions pieces that must first be completed. Please see the Massage Therapy Admissions page for required steps for admission to the program.

Upcoming Intro Course Options:
  • MTP 100 July 19 - 24, 2021Intro Course Offering
    • Students who successfully complete this course offering will be eligible to begin the Massage Therapy program in Sept 2021 (Full-time day program with classes 4 weekdays per week) or January 2022 (Part-time program with classes 2-3 evenings per week plus a longer day on Saturdays)
    • REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE PROGRAM ADMISSION PROCESS
  • MTP 100 Fall 2021 Intro Course Offering
    • Nov 9-13 2021 - Students who successfully complete this course offering will be eligible to begin the Massage Therapy program in January 2022 (Part-time program with classes 2-3 evenings per week plus a longer day on Saturdays)
Students only need to successfully complete one offering of the Intro Course.
