Massage Therapy Introductory Course

Course description

MTP 100: Introduction to Massage Therapy provides a general program overview and historical development of massage therapy. Introduces students to the benefits of massage therapy and its relationship to our current health care system, alternative health care systems and healing practices from other cultures. Introduces the systems of the body, basic effects of stress on the body and different types of massage modalities. Introduces students to basic anatomical terms, regions of the body, and an anatomy palpation demonstration and practice. Prerequisite: You must be 18 years old to register for this course.

2019 Intro Course Options:

  • MTP100 (CRN 38082) Nov 12 & 14 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Nov 16 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible to begin the Massage Therapy program in January 2020 (Part-time program) or August 2020 (Full-time program). This will be the final time the course is offered prior to the January 2020 program start. The course will be offered again in the summer of 2020 in preparation for the Aug 2020 program start.
