The Perfect Poke – IV Therapy & Wellness is a growing wellness clinic located in Arlington Heights, Illinois, founded by passionate nurse practitioner, Meghan Dzurovcik, with a deep background in pediatric oncology and infusion therapy. Known for her calm presence, clinical precision, and compassionate bedside manner, the founder built her reputation on turning uncomfortable medical experiences into ones rooted in trust, comfort, and care.

After becoming a mother, she recognized that traditional healthcare systems often limited her ability to care for patients in the way she believed was possible. Determined to create a more personalized and patient-centered model, Meghan set out to build her own practice - one that prioritizes wellness, flexibility, and genuine human connection. That vision became The Perfect Poke.

As a first-time business owner, Meghan knew she wanted more out of her career and felt confident in her clinical expertise, but the business side of entrepreneurship was entirely new territory. Marketing, budgeting, website development, licensing, and networking felt overwhelming and unfamiliar.

While taking an introductory course on starting an IV clinic, she learned that every state has a Small Business Development Center (SBDC). A quick online search led her to the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Harper College, where she immediately began scheduling advising appointments and never looked back.

The Illinois SBDC at Harper College provides comprehensive, one-on-one business advising tailored to the client’s needs. Services include business strategy, financial assistance, marketing guidance, website development support, licensing and legal requirements, social media strategy, networking ideas, and ongoing encouragement. Meghan has worked with the several of the business advisors at the Illinois SBDC at Harper College.

Meghan first met with Sarah Cervantes who has been instrumental in serving as accountability partner, helping clarify goals, work through mental blocks, and stay grounded and motivated throughout the process. Illinois SBDC at Harper College Manager, Sarah Cervantes expressed, "From our very first conversation, her expertise and energy immediately stood out—I remember thinking, ‘She really has it going on.’ It has been incredibly rewarding to work alongside Meghan and watch her vision come together. Seeing her confidence flourish and her business thrive is a true joy and I am eager to continue to see Meghan thrive.”

Business Advisor, Dennis LaPorta played a significant role in assisting Meghan lay the foundation in the early days, asking the right questions and helping her think through the big picture. Dennis also continues to support through marketing and sales strategy.

Meghan next met with Business Advisor, Jennie Johns, who specializes in ecommerce, technology, and all things website related. Jennie Johns helped translate Meghan’s vision into a professional website, advising on best practices, guiding conversations with the web designer, and reviewing the site before launch.

Following these appointments, Meghan also scheduled time to meet with Business Advisor, Cheri Kretsinger, who assisted with the launch and organization of Meghan’s social media accounts and presence. Cheri Kretsinger also offered structure, goal-setting, and guidance on maintaining professionalism without sounding overly sales-focused.

“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have a strong support system through the SBDC while building The Perfect Poke. I truly wouldn’t be where I am without each of them.” - Meghan Dzurovcik

With consistent support from the SBDC team, Meghan was able to achieve several milestones, including:

  • Opening a brick-and-mortar wellness clinic
  • Launching a professional website that she is proud of
  • Establishing and maintaining active social media accounts
  • Serving patients both in-clinic and through in-home visits
  • Building confidence as a business owner and entrepreneur

And most importantly, Meghan moved from feeling overwhelmed to taking confident, informed action and transforming ideas into reality.

“The Illinois SBDC at Harper College is the best-kept secret that fell into my lap. I tell everyone I know with their own business about it. The SBDC is full of expert advice and absolutely free. You could sit at home Googling and questioning what you should do, or you can have productive meetings with experts and get more than you can even imagine. My hope is that it no longer remains a secret so more people can benefit from the camaraderie, encouragement, and expertise of the SBDC.” -Meghan Dzurovcik

The Perfect Poke continues to scale and keep up the momentum. In 2026, the business plans to expand appointment availability, offer more flexible scheduling, and integrate advanced wellness services such as hormone optimization and peptide therapies. Ultimately, the long-term goal is to provide a more complete, personalized wellness experience for the community.
